frequently asked questions
Is sedation the same as general anesthesia?
No. Unlike general anesthesia, with sedation you remain awake during
treatment. Although you are deeply relaxed and largely unaware of
treatment, you are responsive.
Is sedation safe?
Yes. Your vital signs are monitored throughout your treatment. Dr.
Milnar or one of his trained staff members will always be at your
side.
How long will I be sedated?
Sedation can last up to six hours, depending on how much treatment
you need.
What kinds of dental procedures can be done while I am under sedation?
Many complex procedures can be performed with sedation dentistry.
Some of these include treatment of gum disease, repair of cracks,
chips, cavities, discoloration, and other problems as well as cosmetic
procedures like crowns and veneers. Dr Milnar can discuss your case
with you in particular.
